| Baked Sweet Potato and Mum's Garden Tomato SaladMiserable rainy days scream out for hot comforting food, so I tripled up with a buttered vermillion sweet potato filled with equally soothing lamb chilli topped with melted mature cheddar, with a little bite from green olives. A little reminder of summer came from a simple mixed tomato salad (the last of them from my mum's garden) with beetroot. |

| Smoked Haddock Cake Open Sandwich For no other reason than my eyes being bigger than my two slices of bread I had prepared for this has made this an open sandwich. Two smoked haddock fish cakes from last night, butterhead lettuce that folds out like a note book, cucumber and marie rose sauce with tarragon and tomatoes were never going to fit comfortably on the two slices of homemade caramelised onion and bacon bread! |

| Mac and Cheese with Carrot Peppadew SalsaUnashamedly anything but comforting, mac and cheese with smoked sausage topped with crumbled cheese and onion crisps (yes, bizarre but highly recommended) and spring onions. Served with salsa to cut through the rich cheese carb fest, but since salad and comfort food don't mix. A grated chopped combo of peppadew peppers, carrot, tomatoes, red and spring onions do the trick! |

| Nigel Slater's Spiced Lamb and Pomegranate This is a fave of mine, easy and all about having some key ingredients. Pomegranates for sweet freshness, salty green olives to cut through the fatty lamb mince and cooling natural yogurt (chopped mint through for extra zing!) For the lamb just cook off onion slices, mushroom chunks then deseeded chili in a frying pan and add the lamb, to the highest heat possible so it crispens up.Works best on thinner bread types, pitta would work well, I used a plank size of Turkish bread that is dead cheap from my local international supermarket, left in the oven to also crispen up (wrapped in cling film it keeps crisp till the next day.) |

| Payday treat at Mooli's Cheating, yes - it is pay day after all! When I am not bringing my own lunch my first port of call has to be Mooli's, they do incredibly tasty Indian roti wraps, recipes cultivated from travelling the country, roti's made fresh everyday and carefully crafted chutneys that compliment each protein. Today I went for the meal deal for £6, a wrap and side...the paneer wrap had crumbled to a cous cous consistency but with a creamy flavour, spiced with garam masala, nigella and cumin seeds. Teamed with shredded red cabbage, carrots and iceberg for crunch, tomato chutney all blanketed in a ghee stroked roti. For my side I chose the potato salad with swirls of yoghurt and intensely bitter tamarind sauce, hiding chillied chick peas in a ight tomato sauce with corriander leaves. If you're around the Soho vicinity defintely head to Mooli's! |

| Tomato Chicken Curry and Lunch Add OnsA little freezer keeper from a dinner gone by, but this time round pepped up with some homemade carraway flat breads, cumin and chili roast squash, mixed salad and yoghurt and coriander dressing. I ended up making mini wraps out of these which was nice and lighter than with the usual rice accompaniment. |

| Chicken Pie! When I made this pie the other night I made sure there was a generous portion for my lunch and seperated the pastry to prevent it from turning completely sodden. With a little help of the canteen upstairs it was heated to crispy perfection and voila, pie as if it were fresh outta the oven, with a good dose of veg in the form of roast squash, cabbage and spinach. |
